Today, we had the last University Council of this year! We discussed the 2026 Budget, provided an update on our survey about study places, and raised a question regarding the reduction of the standard exam duration.

Tuesday, we had our constitution drink. Thank you to everyone who joined us that night, we had a great time & hopefully you did too! 💚

Yesterday, Swap Your Senses took place. During this day, we organized three workshops on inclusivity in collaboration with @hobbee.bzz. There was a wheelchair and blind stick tour, and participants had the opportunity to engage in conversations with volunteers from @toegankelijk_tilburg to talk about their disabilities.
We found this a very valuable experience and would like to thank all the volunteers and participants for their participation!💚

𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥 🎓

Today, we had the second University Council of this academic year! We discussed the Autumn MARAP and the Response of the Executive Board to the Evaluation and Lessons Learned from the Opening of the Academic Year.

𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐌! 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐞✏️

Since the elections for the House of Representatives are tomorrow, we want to look back on the STEM! Election debate we organized on the 6th of October together with @magisterjft_juribes and @sgtilburg. This edition was a huge success and we want to thank all the political parties that participated in the debate. In particular, we would like to thank our debate leader, @frankvanleeuwen_ , once again for asking the necessary critical questions and for steering the debate in the right direction.

As Fractievoorzitter (member of the Daily Board), I am part of all three preparatory committees of the University Council. You could say I’m the political headchief of Front.

I’m involved in a variety of dossiers, including policy and strategy.

Hi, I’m @stormbarendrecht and this year I am the general director of education of Front. I deal with everything concerning education such as student wellbeing, examinations, social safety and exchange. That’s why I’m also on the education, research and impact committee.

Op 6 oktober zullen acht kandidaten van de Tweede Kamer-verkiezingen in debat gaan over diverse stellingen die betrekking hebben op studenten.

Today we introduce: #1 Storm Barendrecht

Storm is 21 years old and in her second year of studying Public Administration. She is active in student Association T.S.R. Vidar and her sorority Luna. Additionally, she has participated in various committees within her study association Juribes | Magister JFT. Storm beliefs that beyond the knowledge you gain from your studies, an active student life contributes to developing social skills and building a network, which is essential for personal growth. That is why she would like to represent the interests of active students in the University Council next year.
One of the key pillars of the student party Front is creating a Living Campus, and next year Storm will aim to contribute to this by maximizing the number of study spaces and ensuring their use is as efficient as possible. Additionally, they believe it is important that every student has the opportunity to develop themselves in as many ways as possible alongside their studies, without their academic program standing in the way. That’s why Storm also supports the expansion of digital assessment options.

Eline will show you more about improving the possibilities for international students to become active besides their studies!

Today we introduce: #2 Eline Gijsel

Eline is 22 years old and studying the master Strategic Management: Consultancy. She believes that university life should offer more than just studying and should also focus on personal development. The university should actively support students to be active outside their courses by offering both on-campus and online lectures, which increases the flexibility of students. Since sports are also very important, the university should ensure that the sports facilities remain of high-quality and affordable to everyone. Moreover, the campus should be an attractive and comfortable place to study so she wants more outside study spots, and inside study spots with a monitor!

𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐭 𝐱 𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐬🏫

Anna will show that we want a living campus: a vibrant place buzzing with activity, where sustainability is at the heart of everything we do!

Today we introduce: #3 Anna Winters

Anna is 20 years old and in her first year of studying Public Administration. She is an active member of T.S.S.V. Gepidae and part of T.S.V. Plato at Callete.
Anna is passionate about improving the student experience. She believes that more study spaces should be made available by making better use of currently unused or underutilized university rooms.

She also wants to ensure that lectures are recorded more consistently, especially for smaller programs where this is not yet standard practice. According to Anna, recorded lectures are essential for students who may be dealing with illness, facing mental health challenges, or balancing a career in top-level sports. They help make education more accessible for everyone.

Finally, Anna is committed to promoting student mental well-being by helping to create an environment where students feel safe, supported, and heard!

𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐭 𝐗 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 🎾

Niels will show you more about how we want to improve the developments around the new sports center!

Today we introduce: #4 Niels Beeks

Niels is 23 years old and is in his first year of studying Public Administration. He is also active at O.H.D. Dispar Vulgo. He thinks it is very important that students can be active alongside their studies. Students learn the most by being active outside their studies, and that is what he wants to work for in the University Council. It is important that the university facilitates students who want to engage in other activities besides their studies. He wants to achieve this by making all lectures available online, giving students more time for other pursuits. At the same time, there should be a good balance between online and physical education so that students remain motivated to come to campus. Therefore, he wants to increase the number of study and work spaces and make the campus a place students like to come to!

𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐭 𝐗 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 🤍

Sofie will show you that we want to improve the visability of the wellbeing facilities that are offered by the University!

Today we introduce #5: Sofie Kout

Sofie Kout is 22 years old and is currently in the third year of the Bachelor of Law. She is also active in student Association T.S.R. Vidar and het sorority Florenza. In recent years, she has experienced first-hand how valuable it is to be active alongside your studies. Whether that is within a society, committee or other extracurricular activities, it contributes to both your personal and professional development. That is why she would like to represent active students within the University Council next year. She also believes that education should move with the times in which digitalisation plays an increasingly important role. She therefore thinks it is important that this development becomes more accessible to all students. Do you agree with Sofie and want her to represent you in the University Council? On the 18th of May, we will run different distances during the Utrecht Marathon. We will do this for the charity Stichting Hartekind. Stichting Hartekind is the only charity in the Netherlands dedicated exclusively to scientific research into heart defects in children. In order to increase the survival chances of children with heart defects and improve their quality of life.

Today we introduce #6: Rich van Lenthe

Rich is 19 years old and in his second year of the bachelor’s degree in Tax Economics. He is member of T.F.V. De Smeetskring and member of T.S.V. Plato at fraternity Equilibre.

He would like to optimize the digitalization in education to give students the optimal space to develop themselves besides their studies. Students should be able to find the balance between studying and activities. This includes offering more video lectures and making it possible to make exams remotely. Besides that, he would like to realise more (outside) work and chill places. The campus should be an attractive place for all students so that students still want to come to campus!
